Information on Recognition

Applicants must be in private practice and registered with the Podiatrists Registration Board in the State or Territory in which they are practising. If practising in the NorthernTerritory, Podiatrists / Chiropodists must be registered with the Podiatrists Registration Board in any other State or the Australian Capital Territory, or be a ‘Full Member’ of the Australian Podiatry Association (ApodA) in any other State or the Australian Capital Territory.

They must obtain a provider number from Medicare Australia who will then notify all health funds of the provider number and the relevant practice information. Medicare Australia can be contacted on 132 150 or via www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/providers/forms/medicare/ancillary_providers.htm.
