Extras services, extras benefits
At BUPA Australia we provide a great range of benefits for ‘Ancillary’ services such as optical, dental, physiotherapy, chiropractic, podiatry etc. Eligible members of our fund receive benefits for Ancillary services only if they are provided by practitioners who are recognised by the fund and in private practice.
For Healthcare Professionals recognised by Medicare Australia
Each provider must conform to the Provider Recognition requirements as detailed on the Provider Recognition page; and obtain a Provider Number from Medicare Australia who will notify Bupa Australia Pty Ltd health funds of the provider number, provider details and all relevant practice information. Medicare Australia can be contacted to initiate this process on 132 150 or via the Medicare website.For Natural Therapists
To receive a Provider Number from Bupa Australia as a recognised Natural therapist in your relevant field of expertise you must meet a specific criteria for each modality of therapy. Bupa Australia will offer recognition to applicants who:
- Meet the provider recognition criteria. For further clarification of this required criteria please review our Provider Recognition page;
- Meet the Compulsory Additional Recognition Requirements;
- Are members of a professional organisation which meets the requirements of Rule 10 of the Private Health Insurance (Accreditation Rules 2008;
- Maintain membership with a Professional Association that has an agreement with Bupa Australia; and
- Agree to abide Our Ancillary Provider Terms.
